The Department of Environmental Chemistry (Uchem) of Eawag is offering a position for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Environmental and Analytical Chemistry.
Topic: Natural Toxins
The position is part of our research on natural toxins. Ecosystems and drinking water resources are not only vulnerable towards anthropogenic pollutants but also natural toxins. Bioactive compounds produced by aquatic organisms, such as cyanobacteria, are of particular concern since these are waterborne toxins directly released into surface waters. Cyanobacteria produce a diverse mixture of bioactive compounds beyond the well-known microcystins, yet the potential risk of many cyanobacterial metabolites remains mostly unknown.
The project is led by Dr Elisabeth Janssen (Uchem) in collaboration with Dr Colette vom Berg (Utox). The period of appointment for the Postdoctoral Researcher is 24 months, earliest starting date is January 2019 or as soon as the position can be adequately filled.

The Eawag postdoctoral fellowship position aims at offering outstanding young scientists with exciting research ideas the possibility for a two year research position at Eawag to strengthen their research career towards becoming independent scientists. Each year there is a call for a proposal submission, which includes a research plan, reference letters and a recommendation letter by one of the research department heads at Eawag.

The ETH Sustainable Food Processing group
uses a combination of emerging food safety approaches, microalgae processing and life cycle sustainability assessment to target fundamental challenges in food science and society such as food security.
They are recruiting by mutual agreement a PostDoc – Microalgae cultivation and processing.
They are looking for a candidate who is highly motivated to work in a collaborative project with an international food company that aims at developing targeted algae cultivation and processing of certain green algae species. Of particular interest are innovative process applications based on advanced cell stress induction, disintegration, separation, conversion and stabilisation techniques. The aligned analysis of the structural changes during up- and downstream is key for an optimised food concept development.
